Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on remote training, the official Danish certificate and the practical cost of a travel-heavy route.

Can I get an MLC 2006 Ship’s Cook Certificate completely online?

You can complete Cook’s Ticket’s recognised Danish training and assessment remotely, including the practical cookery video assessment and remote-proctored final exam. Suitable candidates can plan this around a proper galley or kitchen, the required equipment and a reliable connection.

When you pass, Cook’s Ticket issues a Certificate of Completion. You then apply separately to the Danish Maritime Authority for the official Danish Ship’s Cook Certificate. Eligibility and issuance remain subject to the Authority’s separate requirements and decision.

Does the UK MCA accept the online Danish Ship’s Cook Certificate?

The UK MCA accepts an official Ship’s Cook certificate issued by another administration that has ratified MLC 2006 as equivalent for service on a UK ship, subject to its published conditions. Denmark ratified MLC 2006 in 2011.

The legal test concerns the official Danish Ship’s Cook Certificate issued by the Danish Maritime Authority — not Cook’s Ticket’s Certificate of Completion by itself. The holder must also meet the MCA’s applicable basic safety-training and medical-fitness conditions.

How much can a shipping company save by using digital cook assessments?

The saving depends on the candidate’s location, the physical alternative and the vessel’s operational plan. A shore-based route can involve travel, accommodation, local transport, leave planning and, where needed, galley cover in addition to the course fee.

Cook’s Ticket’s training and assessment programme costs USD 899 and removes the need to travel to a fixed training centre for that stage. The separate Danish Maritime Authority application, authority fee and any vessel-specific requirements are not included in the programme fee.

Need a digital Ship’s Cook training and assessment route?

Cook’s Ticket lets suitable candidates complete training and assessment remotely. On passing, you receive a Certificate of Completion and can then apply separately to the Danish Maritime Authority for the official Danish Ship’s Cook Certificate.
